John Haydock - Solitaire

Written, performed and produced by John Haydock. I recently got hold of Mick Taylor’s first album, where the first track is the brilliant ’Leather Jacket’. I loved the song’s upbeat style and open and bright chords and wanted to try and write something like that. Once the rhythm was down I thought it needed some Thin Lizzy type twin guitar guitar as a hook. I really love ’Dear Miss Lonely Hearts’ and went for that twin guitar style. The guitar solo was off the cuff and quite ridiculous, I was gonna scrap it and go for something more tasteful, but something in me kept telling me to leave it... it’s probably still ridiculous, but I gotta obey that inner voice.... This sure ain’t blues, I was going for that late seventies/eighties AOR sound .. like Journey, Boston, Tom Petty, ELO stadium rock type thing.....
