This act would make it illegal to practice, witchcraft, enchantment, Charms or Sorcery, on pain of death. It also outlawed consulting with or aiding witches. These laws were an attempt to wipe out the old non-Christian beliefs and practices of the Scottish people, an attempt that unfortunately quite successful. The witch craft act led to over 100 years of hunting, torturing, and killing, 1000s of innocent men, women and children, to appease the new god and his devout followers. Throughout this period, there were a number of great witch hunts, which were backed by the throne and the church.
