Helga Zepp-LaRouche address to Schiller Institute 1984 - 2024 Jubilee Conference Feb. 4, 2024.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Founder and International President of the Schiller Institute, addressed on Sunday Jan 4th, 2024 the Jubilee Conference of the Schiller Institute in Sweden which was founded 40 years ago. In her speech titled “The Great Crossroad of 2024”, she put the mobilization for Gaza in the front. She related what the international Schiller Institute had set out to do 40 years ago in a period when the war danger also was at a high point with the medium distance missiles on launch on warning and massive peace demonstrations. She also pointed to that year 1984, which was the title of the book describing the massive brainwashing we now are living in. There were in the end two questions where she came back to the Gaza mobilization and the need to replicate everywhere the process bringing the Chicago to vote for ceasefire. She also encouraged everyone to understand what is happening in the Global South which most people in the West have no inkling about. In his welcome address to the conference Chairman of the Swedish Schiller Institute Ulf Sandmark had presented the idea of the conference to provide a programmatic alternative. He said: “We are faced with the choice between a policy of Peace through Economic Development together with the Global South or being ruined by an oligarchic policy of endless war and even the risk of world war. Our Swedish society’s freedom to enable our lives and productive opportunities is now being completely dismantled under an almost colonial oppression from the EU, NATO, globalist companies, the Anglo-American financial system and the war industry. Sweden now sheepishly supports NATO’s wars and Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians. With the “Defense Cooperation Agreement“ (DCA) with the U.S., signed by the Minister of Defense in December 2024, Sweden will allow soldiers, who will be subject to foreign laws only, into the country and allowed to operate independently inside 17 Swedish military bases. This is without any restrictions on bringing nuclear weapons. The Schiller Institute has joined an action group to stop the parliament from rubber stampings that agreement on May 8th. We now have this conference to chart the course for how Sweden will reassert our freedom by rebuilding society, economy, education and culture on a broad front, he said. After Helga´s address there were the following the presentations in Swedish by Hussein Askary, International Schiller Institute Coordinator for Southwest Asia: The world has changed: Should the West cooperate with the Global South?; By Kjell Lundqvist : How Sweden was built and can be rebuilt?; By Stephen Brawer: The philosophical basis for reconstruction; By Elias Dottemar: The future man; and finally Sandmark: How should reconstruction be financed?
