Ant Trip Ceremony - 24 Hours( 1995 )(Originally Issued in 1968) (USA, Psychedelic Rock) Full lp 5.1
Ant Trip Ceremony was formed by Steve Detray, an Oberlin College student from Ohio. Between 1966 and 1967 he was on sabbatical, during which he stayed in Logan, Utah, with his brother. The group got its name after a suggestion from a local English professor who saw the phrase in a novel (the term “Ant Trip Ceremony” describes modern society). When Detray returned to Oberlin for the 1967-1968 academic year, he disbanded the group, keeping its name. Later, while still a student at Oberlin College, he formed a new band, which included Gary Rosen, George Galt and Mark Stein, who had previously played in a blues band. At Oberlin, Mark Stein majored in flute, and Roger Goodman also majored in music. The only member of the group not trained at Oberlin was 16-year-old drummer Jeff Williams. Most of the group’s performances took place within the walls of the college (at that time the group was famous for its long improvisational inserts). In 1968, the group decided to record, splitting the recording costs equally.
