Putin says Russia has “no reason or interest” in attacking NATO, dubs Biden remarks “nonsense”

Responding to remarks from U.S. President Joe Biden that Russia would attack a NATO country if it won its ongoing war with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he has “no reason or interest” to do so. “It is complete nonsense and I think President Biden understands that,” Putin said during an interview last Thursday, further suggesting the U.S. leader was trying to justify his own “mistaken policy” on Russia. “Russia has no reason, no interest — no geopolitical interest, neither economic, political nor military — to fight with NATO countries,“ Putin added. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in Feb. 2022, Putin has repeatedly cast the post-Cold War expansion of NATO as evidence of the West’s way of dealing with Russia’s security concerns.
