Sir John Maffey.
Anglo-Egyptian rule of Sudan; 1920s. Pan left on huge crowd of African (quite dark-skinned) men in robes & turbans on camels; moving slowly to left en masse; then stopping; desert landscape. Closer shot panning on the some of the men sitting close together on camels.
Next; uniformed soldiers (Arab?) riding camels; carrying rifles & some holding British Union Jack flags; with them are a few British soldiers and officials - presumably Sir John Maffey is among them.
My guess is that the first group of men are Sudanese; the second are Egyptian Arabs. The Sudan was officially co-governed by Egypt & Great Britain; though of course in reality the British did the real governing.
British Empire. Colonialism; imperialism; international relations.
