Jasper x Izgrim, feat. Fryta - Veteran of the Psychic Wars [Blue Öyster Cult cover]

Here’s our tribute to the great BOC progressive rock classic mixed with a flavor of retro, sci-fi, cinematic music and #80s new wave synthesizer drum machine music. Music video created by Izgrim includes experiments with vfx, CGI animations and 3D scanning (photogrammetry). Follow us so you don’t miss any new release! Izgrim: Jasper: We’ve chosen this song because, basing on history of human warfare and political conflicts, we find the meaning of it timeless. War is stuck in minds of all mankind and is a cause of endless unjust atrocities against humans. All that in the name of interests of few political figures. Videoclip, starring both of us, depicts a soldier meeting his long-gone brother-in-arms from space, inspired by retro sci-fi movies. It was shot by Ewa Zygmunt with aid of Jasper (special thanks to Bartek S. for lending us his gimbal). Post-production showcases Izgrim’s characteristic aesthetics of glitchy, 80’s VHS tape camcorder footage mixed with futuristic CGI animations, VFX and 3D modeling, utilizing a 3d scanning technique, photogrammetry. We’ve decided to do this track in our own style - slowmo, with ambient soundscapes and heavy electric guitars, vocoder vocals, drum machines and synthesizers reminiscent of 80’s #coldwave and nowadays #synthwave music. We’ve sneaked a little bit of cinematic music influences as well, which we find very fitting for this track (no surprise that you can find it in the soundtrack of Heavy Metal - a movie that inspired us both). The track was recorded and mixed at Studio Muzyczne FLY. In Mielec, Poland. We’ve used various VST synths as well as Korg Volca Keys, guitar pedals, Yamaha SPX90, bass guitar and drum samples as well as real toms recorded at a high-ceiling staircase. Izgrim - lead vocals, video directing and production, #vfx, 3d graphics Jasper - music production, programming, #synths, bass guitar, backing vocals, toms of thunder Fryta - electric guitar and other spacy sounds Ewa Zygmunt - video recording Lyrics: You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars I’ve been living on the edge so long Where the winds of limbo roar And I’m young enough to look at And far too old to see All the scars are on the inside Don’t let these shakes go on It’s time we had a break from it It’s time we had some leave We’ve been living in the flames We’ve been eating up our brains Oh please don’t let these shakes go on You ask me why I’m weary, why I can’t speak to you You blame me for my silence, sayin’ It’s time I changed and grew But the war’s still going on, dear, and there’s no end that I know And I can’t say if we’re ever... I can’t say if were ever gonna be free Don’t let these shakes go on It’s time we had a break from it It’s time we had some leave We’ve been living in the flames We’ve been eating out our brains Oh please don’t let these shakes go on You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars My energy’s spent at last And my armor is destroyed I have used up all my weapons and I’m helpless and bereaved Wounds are all I’m made of Did I hear you say that this is victory? Don’t let these shakes go on It’s time we had a break from it Send me to the rear Where the tides of madness swell And been sliding into hell Oh please don’t let these shakes go on Don’t let these shakes go on Don’t let these shakes go on
