In this video I’ve build a magnetic knife block out of some Valcromat scraps I had laying around and covered the magnets with beautiful birdseye maple veneer. You don’t have to mix your own shellac, but you need to check what additives are in readily bought products. Foodsafe finishes are also tung oil, boiled lindseed oil, walnut oil and beeswax. Tung oil is the hardest of them but expensive. I hat the best results with walnut oil because it hardens the quickest without additives. There are no plans available.
