Balloon setup for a vertical End Fed. My Field Antennas Tests in an old quarry
In an old quarry, I first hung a simple dipole for 20 m band, along the slope at a height of only 1-2 m from the ground. What about a DX QSO with such an antenna?
Then we launched a large balloon with a vertical long wire 40 m long.
In fact, this was a vertical half-wave End feed with a 1:64 matching device and a short counterweight.
In the next video, you will see what happened next with the balloon, which we sent on an Air Tour 10 km upward at sunset with a special parachute and a small box, inside it: a video camera, a GPS tracker, a VHF transmitter.
