United States Volcano Update; Alert Level Raised at the Takawangha Volcano

Due to a swarm of earthquakes at a volcano within the United States, its alert level was raised from green to yellow, possibly signaling magmatic activity. This change occurred at the Takawangha volcano in Alaska which has not erupted for several hundred years and is west of the city of Adak. The ongoing swarm is quite notable because it is the shallowest to have occurred at this volcano, seemingly occurring above the volcano’s modelled magma chamber meaning that a magmatic intrusion could be ongoing.
