14’ Sailboat, 8 week build in 10 minutes

Blown Away, home built sailboat. 8 weeks from start to finish, just a few hours a day. First time build by dad and kids. Great Summer project! I’d estimate our total cost all-in was under $2K. The basic hull and sail plan came from these plans that I found online. I didn’t mind that the plans were somewhat sparse because we wanted to do most of the finish design ourselves. The most significant departure from the plans was the centerboard design which actually turned out remarkably well. The centerboard is a shark-tooth shape made of hdpe plastic, it slides down on curved tracks so that it sits in the correct position when deployed but doesn’t really consume any cockpit space. The centerboard deploys and retracts easily by pulling a small line that you can see just to the right of the mast and running back behind the splash guard.
