Lord Woolton At Tory Conference (1947)

Unissued / unused footage - dates and locations may be unclear or unknown. Location of events unknown - Brighton, Sussex Several shots of delegates arriving for the Tory Conference (Conservative Party) - 1947. Lord Woolton arrives and chats to people outside. A man asks him to look into the camera and say a few words - Woolton looks unsure. We then see him chatting to a woman and telling her “Look here, you can’t go in that way...“. He then removes his hat and stand before the camera to speak in a rather stilted way about the conference, saying that youth predominates among the delegates this year. He ends by saying he believes they are the party that will win the next election and that will say (save?) freedom for the country. Onlookers say “Hear, hear“ and applaud. Woolton walks out of shot and we hear him saying “Was that what you wanted?“ FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
