NATO was created in 1949 as “a shield against aggression and the fear of aggression”. For 75 years, NATO Allies have been working together to keep our people safe and our nations free. The strong bond between Europe and North America is built on our steadfast commitment that an attack against one of us is an attack against all of us, which has made NATO the most successful Alliance in history. Today, NATO provides peace and security for one billion people on both sides of the Atlantic, counting now 32 member states. NATO is a defensive Alliance, bound by our shared history, values and goals. Together with our partners around the globe, we stand united in defence of freedom and democracy, and the rules-based international order. Together, we are stronger and safer. To mark our 75th anniversary, we teamed up with the infinite zoom artist Vaskange to go on a visual journey across sea, land, air, space and cyberspace – the five different areas of operations of the Alliance – showing NATO’s commitment to defend its citizens, for 75th years and counting.
