French Troops Preparing Meal At The Front (1914-1918)
Exact location unknown.
Various shots show French soldiers preparing a meal at the front during the First World War. First we see soldiers marching through woods. They build a fire and use the flame to ignite another fire.
A large, belligerent officer oversees the work. Shot of a line of black cans suspended over several small fires. Men sit and tend the ’stoves’. There is a lot of smoke coming off the fires, sometimes obscuring the soldiers! In the foreground a man is adding sticks to a fire.
Cooking; World War One; food.
Modified WPA record.
