Direct Impingement AK?! - the ONLY one in the world

A direct impingement AK is a prototype made by TINCK Arms, the Slovenian company that also built the Perun X16 modular rifle platform (we also did a video on it: It uses an AR gas block and gas tube with a hybrid direct impingement system where the gasses are vented to the receiver and then act on a kind of short stroke piston / guide rod.
