Nowhere by Peter Monsaert - Opening Film Festival Ostend 2022
Ex-truck driver André (55) fills his days with fixing up a remote roadside café. His routine existence is shaken up when he catches homeless teenager Thierry attempting to break in. Strongly moved by his story, André takes him under his wing and they set out to find a trace of Thierry’s family. During the road trip, not only a special friendship grows, but also the realisation that they need each other to put the past to rest.
Just as in Offline and Le Ciel Flamand, in his latest film Peter Monsaert sketches a layered portrait about connection, hope and family roots with touching characters. Superb performances from an exceptional Koen De Bouw, in his most vulnerable role ever, and the talented young Noa Tambwe Kabati.
