The Middle East through Gulf Eyes: Trip Report from Riyadh, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi

During an eventful week for U.S. Middle East policy — highlighted by President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital — a fifty-person delegation from The Washington Institute traveled to the capitals of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates to meet with senior leaders, engage with a broad range of local society, and learn about important changes under way in each country. Discussing the trip are Robert Satloff, executive director and Howard P. Berkowitz Chair in U.S. Middle East Policy; Michael Singh, managing director and Lane-Swig Senior Fellow; Katherine Bauer, Blumenstein-Katz Family Fellow; and Lori Plotkin Boghardt, Barbara Kay Family Fellow.
