Raimi said Doctor Strange 2 was a horror film, with Steven Strange, the Scarlet Witch, Wong and the rest of the cast all having to deal with Marvel’s first attempt at a true horror movie. Sam Raimi has a history of both great super hero films, like the Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire, and great horror films like Evil Dead and Army of Darkness with Bruce Campbell, so he felt like he was the perfect director to take marvel down the horror route with Multiverse of Madness.
