Альбом No.1 уже в продаже / album out now ГРОМЫКА_ГРОМЫКА?id=Bop6zewmrvwsztlxov4ikh57doi Громыка / Gromyka from Petrozavodsk, Karelia, play “Метание копьём“ (““Throwing by Javelin““) at the National Theatre courtyard, September 13, 2014. Distorted Soviet Retro Chic GROMYKA is a rock-group formed in Petrozavodsk, Russia, in 2014. The group’s name is a reference to Andrei Gromyko, the Soviet foreign minister. In Russian the word is also reminiscent of ‘thunder’ and ‘noise’. To define their music, GROMYKA coined the term heavy psychedelic twist reflecting three parts of their sound: heavy, t...hunderous rhythm section, psychedelic sounds produced by bizarre stylus-operated synthesizer Stylophone 350s coupled with a glockenspiel and ‘proclaiming’ and ‘formidable’ vocal, influenced by Soviet ’60s ‘patriotic twist’ singers like Muslim Magomaev. While claiming many influences (from Joe Meek to Oberiu ’20s-’30s avant-garde literary group) GROMYKA’s image (Politburo chic) and sound are unique, producing a convincing albeit surrealistic effect. Since uploading their early songs on Soundcloud, GROMYKA have toured in Russia. They are currently recording their second album and the first is due for release soon. GROMYKA are: Maxim Koshelev — vocal, glockenspiel; Nikita Vlasov — guitar; Pavel Frolov — Stylophone (Faemi on early sessions); Andrei Petelyaev — bass guitar; Petr Vaskovsky — drums.
