YouTube’s Next Great War

On December 11th, 2018, Mumkey Jones was terminated from YouTube for allegedly violating community guidelines. YouTube’s reasoning for this ban was completely unfounded, and all appeals were rejected or ignored. This termination appears to be solely YouTube’s doing, with no involvement from the YouTube community. It sets a horrifying precedent where YouTube is free to expunge any YouTube channel at will, with impunity, and without due process. It is unclear whether Mumkey’s termination was directly influenced the recent mass-attack on PewDiePie by the online news media. After PewDiePie briefly shouted out a channel which, unbeknownst to him, had questionable political views; the news media pounced on him and began to construe the story as an indictment of PewDiePie’s character and YouTuber’s overall culture.
