NATO Uses Leopard 1 Tanks from the Museum to train Ukrainian military Forces.

Denmark admitted to using museum exhibits to train Ukrainian crews to use German-made Leopard 1 tanks.A statement published on Friday (8/9/2023) said around six heavy armored vehicles were borrowed from several museums to meet training needs earlier this year. Copenhagen reached an agreement with the Netherlands and Germany in February to jointly purchase around 100 Leopard 1A5 tanks for Kiev. The project also involves training for the Ukrainian crew. Denmark operated Leopard 1A5 tanks until 2005. Copenhagen sold around 100 of the tanks to German company FFG in 2010, while some of the heavy equipment is kept in museums. “The Danish military then decided to borrow them back to start training immediately after the decision to supply tanks to Ukraine was taken,“ the statement said. The Danish military confirmed on Friday that it had delivered the first batch of Leopard 1 tanks to Kiev. Ten heavy armored vehicles are already in Ukraine, according to the statement. They added, “More are on the way.”
