What Sound Does a Hippo Make?

An incredible hippo “concerto“ in the heart of the African bush. These hippo sounds were captured in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa. So what sound does a hippo make? Hippos groan, grunt, roar and make loud wheezing sounds. The hippo sound is highly recognizable in Africa, and a lot of fun to listen to. At times, it almost feels as if they are laughing.
