Voice type: treble. His charming, sincere and very expressive manner of singing gained him all-union fame in 1972-1975. Many of his songs were hits of the Paramonov was 11 when he debuted in Moscow at the annual song festival “Песня года-72“ (“Song of the year-72“) with “Песенка крокодила Гены“ (“Crocodile Gena’s little song“). This cartoon song became the ’number one hit’, it was popular both in the USSR and abroad, and was translated into foreign languages. Sergey toured as a soloist of the Choir through the USSR and Europe performing in concerts and international contests. In addition to both ’children’ and ’senior’ songs he recorded some soundtracks to movies and cartoons. Some authors composed their songs specially for him. At the age of 14 Sergey’s voice started its changing and he had to leave the Choir. But he didn’t stop singing during the voice mutation and it injured the vocal cords. When he realised that he was unable to sing anymore, he suffered a lot of it. But he continued to deal with music. He composed pop and rock songs. Sergey Paramonov died alone at his home in Moscow of heart attack and pleuropneumonia on May 15, 1998. He was 36 years old. Some songs he sang as a soloist of the Big Children’s Choir are still very popular in Russia.
