Telemann SONATA in F minor 1st mov. (recorder & lute) | recorder samurai 縦笛侍 LYUTA ITO w. AKIKO SATO

One of the most difficult recorder sonata, Telemann’s F minor sonata. Performed on old fingering / single holes instrument (copy of Denner) with basso continuo on baroque lute. It is challenging to play music in F minor on old fingering, and continuo on baroque lute alone as well. I think the instability of old fingering makes the composer’s intension (he wrote “triste“ at the beginning of this movement) clear, and the sound of lute as basso continuo deepens the mysterious character of the tonality F minor. Performed in a concert “La festa di Telemann“ by Samurai Baroque Project, directed by Lyuta Ito, on 17 Feb 2024 at Sonorium in Tokyo, Japan.
