As a child, “The Lonely Shepherd“ by Ennio Morricone filled my home from a cassette player. Now, on a small Moscow stage, I play it on my sax to a minus track. As people dance, I’m transported back to my grandparents’ old Stalinist apartment, the cassette player’s gentle hum echoing through the rooms of my childhood.
