Dresden Blue - Dragon Staff Practice Log - Dancing People Are Never Wrong
Scheduled a post for y’all to enjoy while I’m off enjoying myself in the desert. :) Here’s a recent practice log with dragon staff - I stumbled on this *wonderful* find of a song, “Dancing People Are Never Wrong“ by Jan Blomqvist & The Bianca Story, and couldn’t resist taking it out for a spin on the dance floor when I probably should have been packing for my adventures. The bittersweet lilt of the song coupled with such sweeping melodies and inquisitive lyrics made for such a lovely dance.
I listened to this song once, fell in love, and a few days later decided to hit record while improvising some dance to it. Dancing often feels like full-body listening, where I can be both somatically and intellectually engaged. Simply sitting never feels like enough when there’s a song that I find beautiful - there’s this inexorable pull to move, even if I can’t always find the words for why it is that I need to. This song speaks to that, I feel.
I’ll be back from the desert next week. I’m unlikely to be recording much while I’m out here - immediacy in an age of social media and smartphones is an elusive thing! - but I’m sure I’ll be coming back brimming with ideas for how I wish to pursue my art in the coming year. I always do.
See y’all soon!
