GO BLUE! I had $700 in my pocket, a lot of ambition but not a clue what I wanted to be. That’s ok, ‘cause being me was enough. After waitressing and teaching Spanish for a few years, I won a karaoke contest and discovered my calling. I performed everywhere from the Bleeker Street blues clubs to uptown open-mics, where I met songwriting legends Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson at their world renowned “Sugar Bar.” They introduced me to Quincy Jones who mentored me into songwriting and crafting the beginnings of a solo career. My stage experience began to take form in legendary NYC cabaret clubs The Box, Duane Park, and Sleep No More.
