The Achilles Years - pt 1

The last couple years haven’t been my healthiest. In March 2021 I blew out my left Achilles tendon. After 10 months of rehab I returned to snow for the 21/22 winter in January, gaining my feet slow by slow. After a spring of feeling confident and skiing again at my normal level, I blew my Right Achilles tendon in September 2022. Part 2 covers the Winter 22/23 season of making up for what little winter I had. Spending the last 2 1/2 years rehabbing and squeezing in skiing and trying to keep it high level has been tough physically and mentally mostly. I’ve learned to realize I can’t compare myself to others, and I’ve got to only strive for my own daily goals. While I was hungry to get back in this part 1 edit from 21/22, that fire died out in the 22/23 season. My tendon only had a few months to heal before winter whereas it normally takes about 18 months to fully recover. I spent 22/23 on a softer note, chasing deep powder and keeping my feet closer to the ground.
