The Delphic Games | RT Documentary

RT Documentary’s new film, the Delphic Games, gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the national art contest for children and young adults. The original Delphic Games took place in Ancient Greece in 582 BC. The Games were held along with the Olympics and the chariot races. For 1600 years, they were forgotten and came back as an integrated youth art competition. The Russian Delphic Games were held for the 20th time and welcomed 1,947 people from 65 regions. This creativity marathon lasted six days and gave the floor to contestants in 28 categories, from cooking and dancing to data protection. Participation in the Delphic Games had to be earned. Participants had to win regional competitions first. For 13-year-old Sergey Antonov, who is attending the Delphic Games for the third time, it is essential to return to his home city of Tymen with a gold medal. Sergey specialises in complex syllable sustained cossack and peasant chants, and his mentors say he is so talented he was kissed by God.
