Texturing an orc in 5 Steps - Substance Painter 2021

In this video I create orc textures in Substance Painter 2021 in 5 simple steps, that apply to any project. The concept I use is by the talented artist Bartlomiej Gawel () My artstation project: Timestamps: 00:00 Step 1: Baking 00:25 Step 2: Color variation 02:00 Step 3: Using maps to drive Detail 10:00 Step 4: Using Procedurals to detail Skin 11:15 Step 5: Using Photos Step 1: Baking The only settings I usually change are: AA samples x2 (or 4.. takes longer) Increase Curvature and AO Ray count to double Amount Step 2: Color Variation: Add the basic, Lage-scale color Variation On this concept we can see it’s white and red Step 3: Using maps Use Curvature and AO maps to drive detail. Keep subtle for realism or it looks stylized Step 4: Using procedurals There are a lot of great options in the Substance Painter library. As always experimentation pays off.
