False Beards (1962)

Marylebone, London. A man, Seymour Freeman, walks down a street and enters a small shop. Interior. Seymour shakes hands with a wig maker and sits on a barber’s chair. The wig maker, Eric Fordyce, examines Seymour’s face closely. Eric uses a yellow spider-like contraption to measure his face. Eric holds a bunch of hair samples against Seymour’s head to get a correct match. Eric specialises in false beards - “if you can’t grow the right sort of beaver - you go to Eric Fordyce“. Audrey Harris is seen dressing a false beard. C/U of a young man adding the final touches to a long white beard wig. C/U of the man adjusting his bow tie. The man is fitted with his false beard made from real human hair. The wigmaker steps back and the man admires himself in the mirror. There follows a comic sequence showing two men - Bernard Bowman and Gerry Rex - trying on different false beards. They seem to be in competition and give each other dirty looks.
