President Putin climbs in Russia’s fastest nuclear bomber

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited on Wednesday (February 21) the Kazan aircraft factory which manufactures both civilian and military planes. Russian leader arrived in Kazan to attend the “Future Games“, an international sports event. Putin climbed inside a TU-160 nuclear capable strategic bomber, one of four currently undergoing modernization at the enterprise. One of the TU-160 planes was bearing the name of Ilya Muromets, Eastern Slavic bogatyr (epic mythical character akin Western European knight errant). The same name Kyiv born, Russian-American aviation engineer Igor Sykorsky has given to the heavy bomber which he designed and constructed in 1913 just before the start of World War One.
