The Ansar, lead by a man who claimed to be the prophesized figure in the Quran called the Mahdi would wage a rebellion against the Egyptian administration in Sudan, ravaged by instability around Cairo, the Ansar would take advantage and take control of the country and establish the Mahdiyya, an Islamic State with the Mahdi as leader, see how the conflict and the aftermath of the war, which includes various Ansar rebellions and Inter-Tribal Conflict, will play out in this video.
