Let’s start with Poland and today’s editorial in Le Monde. It’s good news for Europe, a good news for Warsaw, writes the French newspaper. Poland will change direction and finally there is good news for Europe and democracy. The verdict of the elections on Sunday was clear. The three opposition parties that could govern together collected 53.5% of the votes, beating the nationalist right-wing Law and Justice party, which has been in power for 8 years and was credited with 35.6%, an insufficient result even with the votes of the far right, which stopped at 7%. According to Le Monde, this is good news for several reasons. First of all, because the impressive mobilization of voters shows that alternation is possible even in a country where the government has taken control of all public media and started dismantling the rule of law.
