From the one of the first books of music ever printed with moveable type, we present the five part chanson “Hor oires une chanzon.“ In 1501, Ottaviano Petrucci published the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton. Odhecaton represents a cross section of popular music from the renaissance, and even though the music was originally texted, Petrucci published the compositions completely untexted, presumably for instrumental performance.
