J Dilla Inspired Techniques In this vid, we examine another technique from the legendary Jay Dilla where i’m imagining he flipped a single guitar/bass sample and mapped it enabling him to play across keys or pads. In addition this technique requires a simple 4/4 drum pattern. The simple rhythm gives so much room for elements therefore making it super funky! Sample comes from this pack - This is demonstrated on my midi keyboard while the drums are coming from the mpc 2000xl Once again this concept can be transferred to any hardware or software. This is only one of many J Dilla techniques, but if you listen to his album called Welcome 2 Detroit, u will come across so many dope techniques just from that one album alone.
