Iranian army adds new drones to its arsenal

Iran’s army received new drones to go into service in several regions of the country, Iranian television reported on Tuesday (January 23). In a ceremony attended by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, the new combat, reconnaissance, suicide, interceptor, and radar drones were delivered to Army units. While the exact number of military drones was not disclosed, Iran’s Press TV news agency called it a “giant fleet”. Earlier on Friday (January 19), Iran said it successfully carried out an air defence drill using drones designed to intercept hostile targets in an area stretching from its southwestern to southeastern coasts, amid heightened tensions in the region.
