Free Surfer Craig Anderson on Walking away from his biggest deal of his life to start FORMER
South African / Aussie raised Craig Anderson is arguably the most influential free surfer of the last couple of decades. Craig has never been one to hog the limelight, in fact, he was pretty uncomfortable being followed around New York by Sam and his camera, though that could have been thanks to the ‘morbid’ hangover he was nursing. In this episode, Craig chats through the process of leaving one of the biggest surf brands in the game to set up his own venture, FORMER and the mistakes he made along the way. It’s a super chilled insight into a super chilled bloke. One to sink a beer to for sure.
In this season of Pack Heavy, Chase Light, we follow surfers, snowboarders, artists, connectors, entrepreneurs, business builders, photographers and storytellers. While their jobs may be different, they are all connected by shared values on creativity and building their own vision of the future. You can’t apply for any of the careers these folks have because most of them just threw caution to the wind, said f_ck it, and went after their dreams. This season, Sam Moody (Creator) and Hallvard Kolltveit (Producer) work their way around the world hanging out the back of cars, flying on tour with Swedish House Mafia, partying in New York and touring the beautiful Basque Country. Welcome back to Pack Heavy, Chase Light.

Travel is the foundation of any creative’s life. Whether it’s crossing the city to get to a studio or undertaking a cross-continental content trip, creatives need the freedom to move between any two points with ease. Hauling personal belongings and thousands of dollars worth of kit, means what should be a simple migration often turns into a feat. We thought we’d change that.
