BEHIND “THE THIN RED LINE“ (1998 - rare ’making of’ featurette from VHS)

A promotional documentary looking at the making of Terrence Malick’s WWII drama The Thin Red Line, including interviews with the cast and crew, including Grant Hill, Mike Medavoy, Nick Nolte, Jim Caviezal, Ben Chaplin, John C. Reilly, Dash Mihok, John Cusack, Adrian Brody, Elias Koteas, David Harrod and Hans Zimmer. (Malick himself is, of course, not interviewed, though we see brief snatches of him - or someone dressed like him - on location.) This featurette was included after the film on a copy-protected UK PAL VHS tape, but has not been carried over onto any of the film’s DVD or Blu-ray releases to date, including that by the Criterion Collection. A note about the image/sound quality of this video: Because the tape was copy-protected, I could not capture it onto DVD as I have with many of my other VHS-sourced uploads.
