“An interconnected world at last? Potentials and challenges in the study of cultural transfers beyond the West”. Lecturer: Steffi Marung, Leipzig University Keynote lecture during the conference “Cultural & Technological Transfers in Global and Comparative Perspectives” (Comparative history days 2021), November 1. The presentation, firstly, aims to map some of the recent approaches to the study of cultural transfer in and beyond western contexts, which includes (post)colonial and (post)socialist conditions. Secondly, it illustrates these considerations with regard to the study of the history of socialism in transnational and transregional perspective.
