Jack Johnson was not only the most famous, but also the most notorious African American of his era. During his reign as World Champion, the mass of society left no stone un-turned when trying to beat this man. One after another, no one could. He beat everyone with ease. No one could come even close. Only when he was old and out of shape from a lack of training did he fatigue in the 26th round, but even then, he won every single round prior versus his opponent Jess Willard; inevitable losing the crown to time. Non the less though, Much of Muhammad Ali’s inspiration came from Jack Johnson stating that if you changed women with religion, Jack Johnson’s story is my Story.
With that said, thank you for joining me on this segment as we take a closer glance at Jack Johnson, the worlds first Heavyweight champion and the style that made him untouchable throughout his reign.
