Mi Burrito Sabanero

“El Burrito de Belén“ (whose original title is “El Burrito Sabanero“) is a Venezuelan carol that was created by the harpist and composer Hugo Blanco for the Christmas season of 1972. It was first recorded by the Venezuelan folklorist Simón Díaz, included in his album “Las Gaitas de Simón“ where he is accompanied by the Children’s Choir of Venezuela; and then it was recorded with the Venezuelan children’s musical group “La Rondallita“ in November 1975 with the solo voice of the boy Ricardo Cuenci, the latter being the one that reached great popularity in several countries of Latin America and Europe since the end of the 1970s to the present day.
