160: Black Horse Stygimoloch Family by Han Xiao

This is one of my holy grail dioramas, which I fell in love with a few years ago. I never thought I would ever have it, but now I do, it’s moving beyond words. This is a picture of familial bliss that is so rarely depicted. A resting mother watching over her mischievous children practicing some rough and tumble, and another more introverted one safely behind her. Each individual is lovingly sculpted and painted, and I absolutely love those earth tones. There is something distinctive about each baby, each with its own colouration and personality. The mother needless to say, is a study of sculpting detail and beautiful patterning topped with the most soothing colours. This diorama gives me a sense of peace, serenity, and calm, and is a reminder of Nature undisturbed by predator or Man, something we will never ever see again.
