Vierhändig wird es zugehen mit den beiden Gastsolisten Volker Engelberth und Jerry Lu an den Tasten und natürlich mit der vollen Big-Band-Besetzung dazu! “Ich habe im Jahr 1902 den Jazz erfunden“, mit dieser aberwitzigen Behauptung hat der Pianist Jelly Roll Morton seine ganze Großspurigkeit bewiesen und sich aber auch in die Geschichtsbücher geschrieben. Denn es ist wahr: man kommt an ihm nicht vorbei. „Jelly Roll Morton war für die New-Orleans-Besetzung das, was Duke Ellington für die Bigband war“, meinte der Pianist Art Hodes später einmal. Denn wie der Duke fand Morton neue Klangmöglichkeiten in einer standardisierten Besetzung, und wie der Duke war er ein fleißiger Komponist.
