Harriett Tubman Harriett Tubman was the most successful conductor that guided a train, she helps release more slave from their master’s chains. Being kicked in the head as a child she nearly died, not even knowing that one day she would help the antislavery movement turn the tide. As a young lady her looks were so very plain, she too was a slave in iron and chains. Her only thoughts were to save her money to buy her release, dreaming of the day she could make her retreat. On the day of her escape, she first kiss the free ground, couldn’t wait as a free slave to enter the town. She thought the bondage that she escaped from would go up in vapors, quickly realizing that freedom was a useless word on useless paper.
