The song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and also topped the charts in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium. It peaked at #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #3 on the Cash Box Top 100 Singles chart. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1986.
