The public anger against the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s strict Covid measures continued to rise in Shanghai as protestors called for Chinese leader to step down. Protestors called for Xi Jinping to ’step down’ at a candlelight vigil held for the victims of Urumqi fire, reported Reuters. At least 10 people were killed and nine injured when the fire broke out on Thursday, according to the local fire department. Videos that have gone viral on social media show protestors shouting ’Communist party step down!, ’Xi Jinping step down’ and ’End lockdown in Xinjiang’.
