Robben’s Diminished Blues TRICKS

In this video I’m taking a look at how the mighty Robben Ford 🐐 uses the diminished scale in the humble 12 bar blues for some cool outside sounds. He’s an absolute genius when it comes to phrasing and note choice, and has a seemingly endless reservoir of ideas. I’ve broken down a few of his diminished concepts, as well as how he thinks about the harmony and chords to help you navigate the jazzier side of the blues. ☑️ You can find all the TAB including the opening solo and chord progression on my support page: ☑️ Free backing track for the 12 bar in A: ☑️Free backing track for the I- IV loop: 🔴 Subscribe for more FREE guitar lessons: 🕺🏻 My Funk Guitar Book is available on Amazon: Content: 0:00 Intro 2:23 The Harmony & Hearing the Changes 3:21 How Diminished Subs work in a Blues 5:41 The H/W Diminished Scale 6:09 Minor 3rds Concept 8:15 Using Familiar Blues Licks 9:50 The ’Gospel Lift’ 11:51 Navigating the I - IV - I 12:52 Dominant 7 as a Diminished Launchpad 13:39 Diminished over the V Chord 14:29 Moving Chords in Minor 3rds Follow me: Website: Gear used in the video: Guitar: Fender American Deluxe Tele Amp: Fender Deluxe Reverb Drive: Analogman KOT: Picks: Cables: Strings: Loadbox: Two Notes Torpedo Live (loaded with Fender Twin IR) My camera: My main light: My softbox: Accent Lights: #steveallsworth #robbenford
