World’s Fastest Train Records Speed of 375 Miles Per Hour.
Japan’s maglev train breaks world speed record with 603km/h test run.
The new record came less than a week after the train reached 590km/h, breaking its own 2003 record of 581km/h.
The maglev hovers 10cm above the tracks and is propelled by electrically charged magnets.
The record-breaking run is part of the tests before JR Central can start commercial operations in 2027 on the Tokyo-Nagoya line, which it’s constructing at a cost of $47 billion.
