Roads Of Tomorrow (1937)

Titles read: “ROADS OF TOMORROW“. Germany. On a map of Germany we see the routes of the Autobahns (high speed motor roads) that are spreading across the country. M/S of hundreds of men marching along with spades on their shoulders, presumably on their way to work on the construction of the Autobahns! Various shots of men digging with shovels and pickaxes, using pneumatic drills, blasting earth away with dynamite, moving earth with big cranes and steam trains and building bridges in the construction of the roads. Good building shots. Men weld the rivets on huge bridges and drive steamrollers over the surfaces. High angle shot of a long, finished Autobahn with a few cars driving over it. C/U of a sign reading ’Autobahn / 1000 m’. Point of view shot from the front of a car as we drive along the Autobahn, past fields with stacks of harvested corn. Final shot shows montage of views as we drive along the road. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ
